Among out-of-state visitors, Galveston Island is the number one attraction in Texas, according to a new survey commissioned by the Texas Governor’s office. And why wouldn’t it be? The 32-mile long island sits just 50 minutes from Houston and offers newly replenished beaches, world class attractions, and a variety of restaurants and lodging. Each year, 5 million visitors flock to Galveston to experience the laidback lifestyle of a seaside beach city without the high price tag of most beach destinations.

With more than 5,000 sleeping rooms, state-of-the-art, modern convention facilities and an unforgettable history, attendees will find plenty of variety and charm in Galveston.

The Galveston Island Convention Center at the San Luis Resort is the perfect destination for your next meeting or event. Located on Galveston’s famous Seawall Boulevard, the two-story, 140,000-square-foot property combines executive conference facilities with luxurious resort amenities. In this dramatic beachfront setting with breathtaking views of the Gulf of Mexico, you’ll find a column-free, 43,100-square-foot exhibition hall; a 15,500-square-foot grand ballroom, 12,000 square feet of breakout meeting space; and 29,000 square feet of prefunction space.

Equipped to host the most technologically advanced meetings, Galveston Island Convention Center features cutting edge audiovisual technology including soundproof rooms; individual lighting, sound and climate controls; and wireless Internet access throughout. More than 700 guest rooms are immediately adjacent to the center, and another 1,400 are located within two miles. The convention center offers complimentary shuttle service to and from contracted meeting hotels, as well as complimentary covered parking on site.

Galveston also offers many unique meeting venues like one of Moody Gardens’ glass Pyramids, the Lone Star Flight Museum, The Grand 1894 Opera House, the OCEAN STAR Offshore Drilling Rig & Museum, or Texas Seaport Museum and 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA.
