The Wildwoods Convention Center: A Sparkling Boardwalk Centerpiece for Meetings Located Right On The Beach
Set directly on five miles of powdery white free beaches and offering breathtaking beach and ocean views from nearly every window, the Wildwoods Convention Center is the very definition of prime location. Perfect for events of 100 or 10,000 people, this ultra-modern facility offers a host of options and configurations to cater to events ranging from meetings and trade shows to concerts, conventions, banquettes and weddings. Featuring over 260,000 total square feet — including 86,700 square feet of unobstructed exhibit space, 75,000 square feet of meeting space with 15 breakout rooms, 23,440 square feet of lobby/pre-function space, the elegant 11,700 square foot Starlight Ballroom and the 7,500-seat Oceanfront Arena — the Wildwoods Convention Center boasts an assortment of flexible meeting settings. Outside, parking for 700 vehicles and 11 loading bays makes it equally accessible.
High above the Convention Center’s floor, is a magnificent translucent, Teflon-coated, flexible fiberglass fabric roof, which allows natural light to filter into the exhibit hall by day. At night, the hall’s interior lighting creates a beautiful exterior luminescence, giving the Convention Center a distinctive visibility. At the back of the Convention Center, a windowed wall opens to a stunning 6,600-square-foot outside deck overlooking the beach. The east side of the exhibit hall also features a spectacular beach and ocean view through large windows that can be shaded, if necessary. When you’re in the mood for a stroll between gatherings, the boardwalk beach extension connects guests from the facility to the water’s edge.
The Convention Center also offers a plethora of cuisine choices. Delaware North Companies, the Convention Center’s exclusive restaurant service group, provides event catering, food service, and concession needs as well as d cor and theme consultations for meeting guests. Whether it’s an event requiring four-star cuisine, a black-tie charity gala with theming and decorations, or simply a fun-food affair with pizza, hot dogs, and popcorn, the Wildwoods Convention Center catering staff is suited to meet the demands of the most discriminating guests and budget-conscious alike.
Beyond the spacious, flexible amenities the Convention Center has to offer, there are numerous services of which guests can take advantage. This includes welcome packages and mailings, activities and entertainment programs, recommendations for sightseeing and recreational activities, housing assistance, bid presentations, media coverage through news releases, color slides or digital photography, internet connection and Wi-Fi throughout and computerized registration.
Just outside the Convention Center, visitors can enjoy one of the Top 10 Boardwalks in the United States. Packed with 38-blocks of pure entertainment, the Wildwoods Boardwalk is without compare. Its entire length is filled with amusement piers, arcades and games, world-class roller coasters, interactive water parks, souvenir and tee shirt shops, bike rentals, and over 100-rides and attractions – including seven world-class roller coasters. The Wildwoods Boardwalk also boasts more eateries than the Mall of America offering a wide array of delectable delights from traditional Boardwalk fare to fresh seafood. Plus, throughout the season, there are exciting fireworks every Friday night on the Boardwalk. Perfectly suited for an early morning bike ride or a fun evening absorbing the sights and sounds of a true piece of Americana, the Wildwoods Boardwalk is simply one-of-a-kind.
In the center of all the fun: five miles of award-winning free beaches. Often voted as one of the best in the country, the Wildwoods have the biggest, most beautiful beaches on the entire Atlantic Coast. Relax and take in the sunset, or kick off your shoes and let your stress melt away.
The Wildwoods are also a haven for family entertainment. Guests can enjoy free outdoor concerts, events and festivals, jet skiing, paragliding, biking, sport fishing, sailing, golf, tennis, and more! You can even join Captain Ocean for an environmental session or don your sneakers for a beach aerobics class. Plus, throughout the year, there are special events like weekly craft shows, classic car shows, cultural festivals, concerts, parades, and extreme sporting events.
Every Memorial Day weekend, the Wildwoods’ skies light up with brilliant splashes of color as the island hosts The Wildwoods International Kite Festival, the largest kiting festival in North America. Kite flyers and builders from around the globe flock to the Wildwoods to fly giant kites, miniature kites, sport kites, and power kites, and to take part in various demonstrations and workshops for the whole family. Kites of every shape and size can be seen throughout the weekend as participants compete in a variety of contests – from extreme kite boarding to stunt kite championships.
Of course, no trip to the Wildwoods is complete without a leisurely stroll admiring the facades of many resort’s unique structures, which represent our most famous historical attraction, “Doo Wop.” Doo Wop, or Mid-Century architecture got its start in the 1950’s when the popularity of the automobile gave birth to the “American Vacation”. Visitors flocked to the Wildwoods and a new breed of motels — with colorful neon, outlandish styles and far out themes — emerged to accommodate the new traffic. Half a century later, Doo Wop architecture is as distinctly visible throughout town as it was in the ‘50s and ‘60s! The Wildwoods boast the largest concentration of Doo Wop Mid-Century architecture in the country.
As the sun goes down, the fun continues in the Wildwoods! Dine at one of our many family restaurants, buffets, quaint cafes or elegant gourmet establishments, or simply munch on some decadent “Boardwalk” food. Cap off the evening at a waterfront bar or martini lounge; hit the strip for a neon-lit tour of the island; or enjoy a variety of dance clubs, live music, and attractions.
With so many entertainment choices, the fun never stops in the Wildwoods! No other resort community in America offers the exceptional convention facilities along with the vast array of attractions, shopping venues, restaurants, craft shows, cultural festivals, concerts, parades, historic sights, and outdoor fun. Day or night, on the beach, boardwalk, the neon-lit boulevards, or surrounding area, there’s always something to see and do on the island after your meeting or convention.
When its time to turn in for the evening, the Wildwoods broad, neon-lit boulevards are packed with an assortment of accommodations priced for every budget. Hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts…over 8,000 rooms…all within close proximity of the Wildwoods Convention Center. Many are family-owned and operated and welcome guests with a distinct brand of hospitality and personal service. If you prefer more traditional lodging, the Wildwoods also feature a variety of condominium and apartment options.
